Stop Council Plans For McParks In Camden

Plans by Lib Dem/Tory councillors to exploit Camden’s open spaces and street furniture through increased advertising and commercialisation have been condemned by Camden Labour. Angry local residents and Camden Labour councillors fear the council’s proposals for more advertising hoardings, commercial signage and loud corporate events will prove extremely unsightly and undermine the tranquility of Camden’s much-loved parks. Labour Well Ahead In Camden As Lib Dem Vote Collapses

Despite the very disappointing overall result for Ken Livingstone in the London elections on 1st May 2008, there was a clear victory for the Labour Party in Camden. After a hard-fought campaign by Labour candidate, Nicky Gavron AM, Labour was ahead in 14 wards out of 18 and would have even defeated the Lib Dem Leader of Camden Council, Keith Moffitt, in his West Hampstead ward if the results were reproduced at a local election.
