Meet your 2010 Haverstock Ward Candidates...

Tom Copley

Tom works near Chalk Farm for the local Labour Party and as a constituency assistant for local MP Frank Dobson.

His main policy concerns are housing, education and reducing poverty and inequality.  He is a governor at Chalcot School, and has campaigned locally against the auctioning of Council homes.  He is a proud member of the Transport & General Workers’ Union and is active within his branch, in particular with its campaign for union recognition for MPs' staff.

Tom graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2007, prior to which he worked as an IT technician for the Health Protection Agency.

Aside from politics his interests are music and the theatre. He is a keen actor and has appeared in several plays at the Edinburgh Fringe and at the much acclaimed Theatre 503 in Battersea.  He also enjoys jogging around Primrose Hill.

Sabrina Francis

Sabrina has lived in Camden all her life and works on Kentish Town Road.

She got involved in political campaigning while at university where her main interests were poverty, education and social mobility. It was these interests that lead her to joining Labour.

Sabrina knows the Haverstock area well and how residents need support in their local campaigns and need to feel as if local activists are taking onboard their concerns. With her campaigning experience and passion for the borough she is keen to represent residents and deliver on the issues important to them.

Joynal Uddin

Since his arrival in the UK from Bangladesh in 1975 Joynal has resided and worked in Camden. During the early years of my community involvement he served as a director for the Camden Committee for Community Relations, Governor of Netley Primary School, founding member of the West Euston Community Association and a member of the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education

He is a member of the Independent Advisory Group for the Metropolitan Police, founding member and chair of the West Euston Partnership, a founding member for the Camden Faith Communities Partnership as well the director of the Bengali Worker Association.

He is a firm believer that our local area has a better future if we break down walls of intolerance and collectively work together. He prizes the values of loyalty, commitment and integrity. On your behalf he will strive to ensure accountability of all decisions made and of those who made them.

After looking after his wife and five children he enjoys a moment of solace by indulging in a book or socialising with friends.
