Meric Apak

Meric was first involved in politics back when Mrs Thatcher sent the troops to reclaim the Falklands and later decided to test the nation with the Poll Tax. He joined the Labour Party in 2002 and helped with the campaign work in the 2006 local elections.

He set up Artisan Dwellings TRA back in 2000 on the estate he live in, and through this was elected as chair of Camden federation of Tenants and Residents Associations in 2007. He was a key player in setting up Kentish Town community Centre and elected as chairman to its board for two years until 2005, and Cantelowes Safer Neighbourhoods Panel, again elected as its chair from 2005 to 2009. He received the Camden Epic Award in 2005 for “Making the Community Safer”.

Meric considers himself as a tenant activist representing the interests of council tenants in Camden, and holding Camden Council to account.

Dave Horan

Dave Horan taught in inner London secondary schools for about eleven years before working back-stage in West End theatre and then as Co-ordinator and Advice Worker at the Roger Casement community centre in Islington, closed following the withdrawal of its grant when the Liberal Democrats took control of the council. He now works for a London Labour M.P.

He is a member of the Unite union, and previously of BECTU and the NUT, and is particularly interested in housing, planning and employment matters.

‘Without adequate housing, people’s health and educational chances are seriously jeopardised, and any decent Labour councillor will do everything possible to ensure that the highest possible quality housing is available for ordinary people, especially those most in need. Additionally, every Londoner should be able to compete on an even level for work which pays well and offers reasonable terms and condition. These are my priorities both within the Labour Party and if elected to Camden Council’
